Curated by Catalina Bunge, the exhibition presents the work of five contemporary Uruguayan women artists who explore the construction of their identity within the current context, and the blood ties of their relatives and ancestors that influence this process. Aimed at expanding Uruguayan contemporary art and showcasing the quality of its output, the exhibition will be shown in London (June/July 2017), Paris (July 2017), Montevideo (December 2017), and other cities in Uruguay (2018). The exhibition is supported by the Uruguayan embassies in Paris and London, the MEC (Ministry of Education and Culture), the IMM (Municipal Government of Montevideo), and the British Uruguayan Society.

The exhibition features the work of five contemporary Uruguayan women artists who investigate the construction of identity in today’s world and the ancestral bloodlines that shape this mechanism. By exploring the artists’ diverse perspectives and political discourses, the exhibition invites the viewer to reflect on the supposed condition of being free and the deeply ingrained concept of free will in our society.
